CompAir offers an ideal solution with a comprehensive range of cost effective nitrogen generator systems from compressed air, that enable users to produce their total demand for nitrogen gas on their premises and under their control.
Compared to traditional methods of supply, on-site nitrogen generator is exceptionally cost-efficient with a short payback time on investment - in many cases less than twelve months.
The air we breath is approximately 78 percent nitrogen and 21 percent oxygen, a small amounts of other gases, such as neon, and hydrogen make up the other 1%. A nitrogen generator is able to produce a continuous uninterrupted stream of nitrogen gas from clean dry compressed air. It uses a Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) bed where oxygen and other trace gases are preferentially adsorbed and the nitrogen is allowed to pass through.
Extruded aluminium columns are filled with Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS). Joined via an upper and lower manifold, the high density filled columns produce a dual bed system. After a pre-set time the control system automatically switches the beds. One bed is always online generating nitrogen while the other is being regenerated. During regeneration, the oxygen that has been collected in the CMS stage and the moisture that has been collected in the optional integrated dryer stage are exhausted to atmosphere. A small portion of the outlet nitrogen gas is expanded into the bed to accelerate the regeneration process.

Nitrogen is used for a wide range of industrial applications including atmosphere packaging for perishable food products. It is also used in preventing fire and explosions in chemical plants. Using high quality compressed air to supply the generators, ensures long and trouble-free service and guarantees optimum performance.
CompAir has a comprehensive range of systems that include everything needed to set up an on-site nitrogen generation system. CompAir air compressors and pre-treatment packages include adsorption dryers and coalescing filters to guarantee the highest quality air supply for the generators. The gas can be produced from your existing system with a minimum of additional floor space.
Typical gas supply methods include high pressure cylinders, liquid mini tanks or bulk storage vessels. A CompAir generator makes the workplace considerably safer for employees, eliminating the safety risks associated with traditional methods. When compared to outsourced supplies, on-site nitrogen generation offers a greater flexibility and has a significant impact on time and costs.
A recap of the advantages:
Nitrogen generators begin with clean, dry compressed air to create a continuous supply of high purity nitrogen.
The unique multi-bank design (CN2009P to CN2168P) enables additional generators to be added in the future as demand increases and provides redundancy for ease of maintenance. Your CNP Series nitrogen generator can grow with your company. In the diagram above you can see a typical on-site nitrogen gas generation station which uses compressed air.
From left to right in the image above you can see the air compressor (left), air tank to store the compressed air, then dryers & filters to remove water vapour & oil / impurities from the compressed air, then another air tank to store this clean air. The 4 nitrogen generators are shown on the right - they extract the N2 from the compressed air which is stored in the 4 tanks on the right hand side until needed by the process in question.
